To avoid the sale of gambling to minors, the Française des Jeux will increase controls this year at tobacconists.

She hopes to make more than 2,000 of them throughout the territory, thanks to a brand new technique which consists of sending minors to buy games from tobacconists, accompanied by an inspector to observe the flagrante delicto.

La Française des Jeux has begun to sanction tobacconists who sell gambling and games of chance to minors.

In France, the law prohibits the sale of gambling to those under the age of 18.

However, more than a third of 15-17 year olds have already played there at least once for the first time.

La Française des Jeux will therefore sanction outlaw tobacconists caught in the act.

To control the tobacconists, the FDJ will innovate.

It will carry out testing, that is to say that it will send minors to buy gambling games from tobacconists, accompanied by an inspector who will observe the flagrante delicto of selling gambling games to a person under the age of 18.

The FDJ hopes to carry out 2,000 checks in 2022

For the moment, 1,000 tests have already been carried out last year on the network of 30,000 tobacconists in France.

Seven of them were notified of a suspension of their approval for 15 days.

This year, the number of checks should double, said the FDJ, increasing to 2,000 tests throughout France.

La Française des Jeux will mainly target points of sale identified as posing a problem or located in sensitive geographical areas, or next to schools.

On the side of the Federation of tobacconists, it is simply indicated to work in close collaboration with the Française des Jeux to try to improve this modern black point as quickly as possible.
