A violent traffic accident occurred Tuesday shortly before 5 p.m. in Chambéry (Savoie).
A motorist forced a police check and drove in the wrong direction on a city avenue.
He then hit head-on a vehicle arriving in front, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie.
If the driver was only slightly injured, his 3-year-old daughter, present in the car, was between life and death on Tuesday evening.
An invalid driver's license
Seriously injured, she was taken care of by emergency services and transported to Grenoble hospital, where her vital prognosis was at stake.
The woman driving the car hit by the driver was also seriously injured in the crash.
The 33-year-old father was taken into custody.
His driver's license was no longer valid.
An investigation has been opened.
