The UDPS celebrated its 40th anniversary on Tuesday 15 February.
On this occasion, a mass was said in Notre-Dame du Congo Cathedral in Kinshasa.

The presidential party
celebrates its 40 years of existence in the crisis

A new president must be found after the dismissal and exclusion of Jean-Marc Kabund who lost the confidence of Felix Tshisekedi and other party members.
Little by little, the room fills up: ministers, heads of public companies and other party executives are present.
Today's homily focuses on the age of maturity and wisdom and especially on the need for unity within the party.

Beloved in the Lord, when we are divided we do nothing at all.
Because, they say, unity is strength
”.
A message hailed by almost all of the audience.

We know that each other has been somewhat set aside at some point in history, but today the main thing is to come together so that in 2023 we can get back on track and Félix Tshisekedi wins a second term
,” explains Jean-Baptiste Bomanza, one of the deans and former spokesperson for the UDPS.
A need for unity also shared by Jacquemain Shabani, president of the Permanent Electoral Commission of the UDPS, who lists the urgent needs of the presidential party: "
Everyday work, talking to each other... Meetings like this allow us to see each other, to discuss, to realize that we have a common interest, shared responsibilities.
We must walk together.
