China News Service, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) According to a comprehensive report, the situation on the Ukrainian border continues to be tense. Some Western media say that Russia may "invade" Ukraine on February 16.

In this regard, the Russian side once again denied that President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia does not want war.

At the same time, US President Biden said on the 15th that the US believes that the possibility of Russia's "invasion" of Ukraine still exists.

Biden also warned that if Russia invaded Ukraine, it would cause unnecessary "self-harm".

Putin: Russia does not want war

In the past few days, the United States, Ukraine and NATO have said that Russia has assembled heavy troops near the eastern border of Ukraine and has the potential to "invade".

British media pointed out that the "invasion" is most likely to occur at 3:00 local time on February 16.

In this regard, the Russian presidential press secretary Peskov denied it and joked, suggesting that Ukrainians "better set the alarm clock for this time and confirm it yourself."

When asked at a press conference after talks with German Chancellor Scholz whether there would be war in Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that Russia does not want war.

"As to whether we want war? Of course, not. That's why we propose a negotiating process, the result of which is an agreement to ensure equal security for all countries, including ours," Putin said.

Biden: Threat of Russia's "invasion" of Ukraine remains

On the afternoon of the 15th local time, US President Biden delivered a nationally televised speech at the White House on the latest situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border.

He reiterated that the U.S. still wanted a diplomatic solution, but again warned that a Russian invasion of Ukraine would cause unnecessary "self-harm".

In response to the news that Russia announced the withdrawal of some military personnel from the border area earlier on the 15th, Biden also said that the United States has not been able to confirm this.

US analysts insist that Russia is still in a "very threatening position".

Biden therefore urged all Americans stranded in Ukraine to leave immediately.
