It was just before 3 pm that the rescue service was alerted to a truck that was on fire in the middle of the E20 south of Skara.
It turned out to be a truck with a trailer from which the trailer, which is loaded with paper bales, caught fire.
Long queues
The extinguishing work is now in full swing, but as a result, the E20 must be shut down and traffic diverted, which has led to long queues.
The extinguishing work is expected to continue for several hours.
- What we must do now is to put out the fire so that we can move the truck and open the E20.
But as long as the truck is on fire, we can not move it, says Ola Jakobsson, officer on duty in central Skaraborg.
Shortly after four o'clock, an attempt was made to move the truck, which failed.
Shortly afterwards, work began on unloading and extinguishing the flatbed.
- We are talking about 60 large corrugated cardboard bales, so it will take a number of hours to unload and extinguish, says Ola Jakobsson.
At present, there is no information on personal injuries.
