Chinanews.com, February 15. According to a comprehensive Japanese media report, a food company in Shizuoka, Japan sold Chinese-made wakame as Japanese. The move was suspected of violating Japan's Food Labeling Law and Unfair Competition Prevention Law. The person in charge and three others were arrested on the 15th.

The local police said that the company actually used wakame from China in the wakame products that it claimed to be "produced in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture".

In November 2021, three people were suspected of making and selling the above-mentioned products in a factory in Shizuoka City.

The relevant person in charge of the company said before the arrest, "I didn't know it was made in China when I bought it" and "it wasn't intentional."

Previously, a Japanese wholesaler was exposed to forge Chinese eels for sale as eels produced in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, and it was not discovered for up to five years.
