With the melodies of the violin and high-end stringed instruments, the Republic of Serbia celebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, yesterday, in Al Wasl Square, which witnessed the official ceremonies of raising the flags of the Emirates and Serbia, with the playing of the national anthems of the two countries.

The celebrations included welcoming speeches, distinguished artistic performances, which included segments of folk music and dance, in addition to a speech focused on the Serbian economy based on knowledge and investment opportunities.

The artistic performances at Al Wasl Square witnessed a distinctive musical performance by the world-famous and award-winning violinist Stefan Milinkovic, and his team of string players, String Virtuso.

Visitors to the international event enjoyed an artistic performance of traditional music, embodying the cultural heritage of different ethnic groups, presented by the Serbian National Band "Kolo".

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, received the Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Communications, and Tatiana Matic, Commissioner-General of Serbia at Expo Dubai.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said: "Through its participation in (Expo Dubai), Serbia embodies 7,000 years of its ancient history, creativity, and achievements, while its pavilion accompanies visitors on a journey to explore the future and push the boundaries of communication through the use of the latest hologram technologies and augmented reality. and default.”

He added, "The UAE and Serbia have strong bilateral relations, which have flourished over the years, and we look forward to seeing them develop further, as we explore more partnerships and exchanges in the educational, scientific and commercial fields between our two countries."

Tatiana Matic said: “Our participation in (Expo Dubai) allows us to highlight our potential, develop our business networks, raise the profile of our country and strengthen the partnership between Serbia and the UAE.

We encourage the development of Serbian companies, and we give great support to the development of an innovative, knowledge-based economy by involving many highly qualified experts in the fields of information technology, medicine, engineering and higher education.”

She added: “We are pleased that our Emirati partners see Serbia as a major investment destination, as well as an attractive tourist destination.

We will all cherish the slogan of this international event (Connecting Minds, Creating the Future), which will motivate us to embody it in our future activities.”

Serbia's celebrations continued throughout the day in its pavilion, with performances by the world-famous accordionist Petar Marić, the "Colo" band and the "String Virtuso" band, in addition to a cinematic concert entitled "Balkan Cinema Acoustics", by actress Jelena Tug Gavrilovic, and a performance by musician Alexandra Milutinovic.

Ideas and innovations are the main theme of the Serbia Pavilion, located in the Mobility Zone, which has so far attracted more than 700,000 visitors, and the Business in Serbia program has presented more than 100 innovative products and projects.

Serbia, located in the Balkans, has signed more than 15 commercial and pre-work contracts in the sectors of tourism, real estate, health, automobiles, agriculture and technology.

Serbia's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai presents virtual and realistic exhibitions, taking the visitor on a tour through the past and the present, as Serbia celebrates in its pavilion a long history of creativity and innovation.
