  • Chlorination is implemented throughout the network and additional analyzes are planned soon.

The lessor ICF Habitat Atlantique explains in an information note dated Monday February 14 that analyzes of the domestic hot water showed the presence of legionella in the city of the South in Floirac, near Bordeaux.

They were noted after a control of the collective boiler room which supplies water to the city.

Showers to avoid, without the right equipment

“Human contamination occurs by inhalation of fine water droplets containing legionella, released in the form of aerosols, specifies ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine on its site.

These are produced through equipment such as showers, humidifiers, whirlpools, etc.

There is no human-to-human transmission and drinking tap water does not induce contamination.

“There are currently no cases identified in this complex of residences which has a total of 450 apartments.

The lessor explains that he has set up chlorination on the entire hot water network and that additional checks on the quality of the water will be carried out.

In the meantime, he recommends taking baths and not using the shower before having equipped it with a showerhead with a filter distributed by the lessor.

It is advisable to run cold and hot water every day for at least ten minutes at all water points, especially the shower.

No restriction is to be observed for the use of hot water at the sink and washbasin.

The city of Floirac, contacted by
