The reason for the decision is that the figures are no longer comparable as the general public will no longer be sampled.

- We follow the Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations, says Rolf Asmundsson, press secretary and responsible for covid statistics in the Kalmar Region.

- It does not make sense with general testing when pretty much everyone with cold symptoms turns out to have covid-19.

The numbers become irrelevant.

Those who are now being tested are people with medical indications and care and nursing staff in the region and in the municipalities.

Test boxes left for healthcare staff

The boxes with test kits that have been placed in different parts of the county will remain, but only for the submission of samples.

- They remain so that care and nursing staff can submit their samples, says Rolf Asmundsson.

The Kronoberg region continues to report daily statistics on the number of new infections, as before.
