In Halberstadt in the Harz Mountains, opponents of the Corona policy have drawn torches in front of the house of Mayor Daniel Szarata (CDU).

According to a report by the "Magdeburger Volksstimme", the demonstrators also set fire to bengalos in front of the residential building on Monday evening, causing frightening scenes.

A few hundred people took part in the Corona protest in Halberstadt.

A police spokesman could not provide any further information on the incident in front of the apartment building on Tuesday morning.

It was initially unclear whether the mayor was at home at the time.

In the neighboring federal states of Thuringia and Saxony, the private residences of politicians have repeatedly been the target of demonstrations.

In January, participants in an unannounced protest marched past the house of Gera Mayor Julian Vonarb (independent).

Last December, a torchlight procession in front of the home of Saxon Minister of Social Affairs Petra Köpping (SPD) in Grimma near Leipzig caused outrage.

For the second day in a row, opponents of the corona protection measures also protested in Baden-Württemberg in the immediate vicinity of the home of Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens).

Around 350 people walked past the Prime Minister's house in Sigmaringen at a distance of 50 to 100 meters on Monday evening, a police spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.

They would have stopped for a few minutes and started a whistle concert.

There were no other incidents.

The meeting was not registered.

The spokesman could not say whether the prime minister was at home at the time.

First, the "Schwäbische Zeitung" reported about it.

On Sunday, around 60 demonstrators tried to get to Kretschmann's house and bypass a road blockade to do so.

However, this was prevented.

Kretschmann was not at home on Sunday.

The incident also provoked outrage.

Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) accused the demonstrators of "psychoterrorism".
