• The analysis The PP saves the elections but Mañueco will suffer to form a Government

  • The chronicle Mañueco wins the elections in Castilla y León with a pyrrhic victory and the PP remains in the hands of Vox

The PP wants to avoid by all means governing in coalition with Vox in Castilla y León and is open to negotiating even with the PSOE to save the investiture and manage to form an executive alone.

However, the stability of the legislature or the budgets for each financial year are conditioned by stubborn mathematics.

The popular ones only reach an absolute majority in the Cortes in two ways: with Vox, with whom they far exceed it, and with the socialists, with whom it seems like a chimera to agree on permanent support for four years.

Alfonso Fernández Mañueco stated this Monday that he will try to govern alone, but assumes that this aspiration is conditioned by the position of the other parties.

The PP candidate will open a round of dialogue with "all" the political forces in parliament in the coming days and in them he will present this approach.

In these conversations, Mañueco has indicated that he is also going to test "what is the will of the PSOE and the ability to reach an agreement" "Of course I contemplate it [a pact], of course," he said in an interview in More of One of Wave Zero.

"I do not rule out an agreement with the PSOE."

But all roads seem to lead to Vox.

To the point that Mañueco has said that he "neither rules out nor confirms" that he will finally have to join a coalition with Santiago Abascal's party.

Although, of course, it is the last of his preferences.

Mañueco has assured that the decision will be made by the PP of Castilla y León and that the national leadership of the PP can give an opinion but does not decide because, he has underlined, "who is going to lead the negotiation is the PP of Castilla y León" and the final position is will determine himself.

To this day, the PP's plan to govern alone involves forcing Vox to abstain.

To try it, his idea would be to first reach agreements with the various provincial platforms: Soria ¡Ya!

(three seats), Unión del Pueblo Leonés (three) and Por Ávila (one).

With these three parties and the 31 prosecutors, the PP would reach 38 seats.

Three of the absolute majority.

In this way, the popular believe that they would minimize the need they have for Vox and that they would lower their strength to claim to enter the government.

This scenario supports the thesis that Vox could not vote against a PP government, although it is obvious that this already occurred in the first attempt to invest Fernando López Miras as president of the Region of Murcia.

When Vox voted against in the first and second ballots for not having reached an agreement with PP-Cs.

Yes, he did when he agreed.

This Monday, the general secretary of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, has insinuated that the PP will opt for this route of first agreeing with the provincial platforms to leave Vox out of the government of Castilla y León.

Thus, he has said that it will be Abascal's party that would have to "explain the meaning of its vote" and "account for its actions" if it "blocks" a PP government alone.

"I ask everyone to set their sights high", he said in an interview on Onda Cero.

For García Egea, it is necessary to see "what possibilities of support the PP has and based on that, see what seats are necessary in each case" because there are "other forces that could join in giving stability to the government."

His will is not to form a coalition with Vox because "it is the moment in which citizens can judge a program, a project and a government of a few acronyms."

"The experiences of the coalition governments that we have seen so far are not being satisfactory and I believe that they are not serving the people as the people deserve that the rulers act."

In this sense, the number two of the PP has been critical of Vox's request to take over the vice presidency of the Board: "We are not here to satisfy the needs of the parties, but of the citizens."

And he has pointed out that now what a particular party wants "must be secondary."

García Egea has insisted that Mañueco has won and that, therefore, he has to be able to "

In his interview, the general secretary of the PP has already winked at the provincial platforms saying that they are an example that there are people "who have not felt properly cared for."
