Thus, he commented on the words of the Ukrainian ambassador in London, Vadim Prystaiko, that Ukraine could refuse to join NATO if this would help prevent a war.

“As far as I know, as of now, no issues are being discussed regarding changes to the Constitution of Ukraine in terms of Ukraine’s membership in NATO,” Stefanchuk quoted TASS as saying.

He added that he knows Prystaiko as a supporter of the country's entry into the alliance.

Earlier, Prystaiko admitted that Kiev may abandon its desire to join NATO in order to “avoid war.”

Serhiy Nikiforov, a spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Prystaiko needed to explain the words about renouncing NATO membership for the sake of peace.
