In Grums, Hammarö, Forshaga, Munkfors and Filipstad, there is no longer a bank branch.

The municipal council in Filipstad has warned of negative consequences for new business in the municipality and now she receives support in research for that concern.

When the distance to a physical bank branch is doubled, new business decreases over time, according to the study.

"Alarming"

The worst affected are new companies and young entrepreneurs, says Cynthia Sin Tian Ho.

- They have a harder time showing a financial history because they have just started, she says and continues:

- That bank branches in Sweden are closing so quickly right now is very alarming.

Handelsbanken has said that they will halve the number of branches, then the distances will be longer, which in the future may lead to a reduction in the number of new companies.
