Significantly fewer new corona cases than a week ago,

fewer more deaths related to Covid-19 and

a falling seven-day incidence in Hesse: Has that changed

Corona infection events in this federal state calmed down a bit at the weekend?

The three indicators mentioned indicate this.

However, the

Hospitalization rate clearly higher than seven days ago.

In addition, the clinics look after more Covid patients in normal wards, while the number of corona patients in intensive care units is stagnating.

The increased number of patients is a consequence of the seven-day incidence, which has been climbing for weeks, which reflects the newly recorded positive PCR tests among 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a rising incidence has resulted in more Covid patients in clinics.

This is also the case in the current wave, which is shaped by the Omicron variant.

Offenbach district with the highest incidence

As reported by the Ministry of Social Affairs with reference to the Robert Koch Institute, the Hessian health authorities reported 4558 new cases overnight after 8180 seven days ago.

Five more deaths compare to the 26 reported last Monday.

The Hesse incidence is now 1539 after 1670. The average in the federal government is 1460.

The district of Offenbach has the highest incidence in Hesse with 2398. Only ten regions in Germany have a higher value.

Kassel follows in second place in Hesse with 2130. Offenbach comes to 1905 and Frankfurt to 1594. The Schwalm-Eder district is the only region with just under 1000. All other districts and all large cities have four-digit incidences.

The hospitalization rate is 6.71 after 5.61.

It stands for the Covid patients admitted to hospitals within seven days among 100,000 inhabitants.

These also include people who have presented themselves because of another illness, but then tested positive and have to be isolated.

The Corona normal wards look after 1276 patients after 1207 seven days ago, including 143 suspected cases.

The intensive care units report 226, that's one person less.

In the past few weeks, there were at times more than 1,300 corona patients in normal wards and almost 240 in intensive care units.

In this respect, the trend is slightly decreasing.

It should be noted, however, that the number of patients has not increased or decreased linearly in the past few weeks, the same applies to the incidence of hospitalization.

The peak recorded late last week was preceded by a downturn in the first week of February.
