Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky asked White House chief Joe Biden to come to Ukraine "in the coming days."

Zelensky stated this during telephone conversations with the US President.

“I am convinced that your arrival in Kyiv in the coming days, which are decisive for stabilizing the situation, will serve as a powerful signal and will contribute to de-escalation,” the press service of his office quoted Zelensky as saying.

According to CNN, Biden did not agree with the Ukrainian president.

Channel sources among US officials consider it unlikely that the head of the White House will visit Ukraine.

Meanwhile, according to Zelensky's office, the Ukrainian leader told Biden that Kiev understands "all the risks" and is ready "for any development of events."

“We will stop any escalation towards Ukraine.

The capital of Ukraine, Kiev, other cities of our state - Kharkov and Lvov, Dnipro and Odessa - are safe and under reliable protection," the Ukrainian leader stressed.

At the same time, Zelensky expressed hope that "effective support" from the United States and other partners would help prevent the "spread of panic".

In addition, the President of Ukraine stated the importance of providing "effective security guarantees" to his country.

“We are ready to discuss them in different formats,” Zelensky said, noting that there can be no security in Europe “without the security of Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian president also emphasized that his country "advocates exclusively for a peaceful settlement of the conflict," Zelensky's office said.

It is also noted that the head of Ukraine highly appreciated the "active interaction" with the United States in the field of security and defense, "contributing to strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine."

“We are not yet a member of NATO.

Therefore, only a strong Ukrainian army is the key to the security of our state,” the Ukrainian president noted.

According to CNN, which cited sources, Zelenskiy also urged Washington to provide Ukraine with more military support, "including providing more modern weapons," and stressed the need for a significant financial aid package for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian leader told his American counterpart that strong economic support would “show Putin that the West supports Ukraine and that the escalation provoked by Putin will not bring results,” the TV channel reports.

In turn, the White House informed that during the conversation, Biden and Zelensky agreed on the importance of continuing "diplomatic efforts and deterrence in response to Russia's military buildup near the Ukrainian borders."

“President Biden has made it clear that the United States, along with allies and partners, will promptly and decisively respond to any further Russian aggression against Ukraine,” the White House website says.

"War Propaganda"

Recall that Western countries, including the United States, continue to accuse Russia of plans to "invade" Ukraine.

For example, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said last week that no one should be surprised if Russia "initiates a provocation or an incident that it then uses to justify the military action it has been planning all along."

After that, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, in an interview with CNN, said that the world should be prepared for the fact that Russia "creates a pretext, and then, possibly, starts military operations."

Moscow categorically denies such accusations.

So, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on Sullivan's words, wrote in her Telegram channel that the world already knows "who is lying all the time."

“American politicians have lied, are lying and will continue to lie, creating pretexts to attack civilians around the world.

Everyone knows this.

I would ask the American political establishment not to take another sin on the soul, but I’m not sure that they have it, ”said Zakharova.

A little later, Zakharova called the US actions in the situation around Ukraine "classic war propaganda", which is prohibited by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted by a resolution of the UN General Assembly.

“What we see now is war propaganda in its purest form.

Aggressive rhetoric covers the supply of weapons to Ukraine, the dispatch of military instructors there, the holding of NATO military exercises near the Russian borders and the creation of an offensive combined-arms infrastructure of Western states, ”the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

"To do everything with the hands of Kiev"

As Boris Mezhuev, an associate professor at Moscow State University, noted in a conversation with RT, against the background of the hysteria unleashed by the West, and primarily by the United States, due to the notorious "Russian invasion", Zelensky's invitation to the head of the White House to visit Ukraine "in the coming days" indicates that that Kiev "wants to somehow reassure its population and investors."

“The Ukrainian side believes that the public will perceive Biden’s visit to Ukraine as a kind of guarantee that no terrible events will happen and that no one will start hostilities in a situation where the American president is in Kiev,” Mezhuev said.

According to him, Zelensky does not want to openly show that he is afraid of the panic of the population, therefore, with his invitation, he gives a kind of signal to Biden so that the head of the White House "plays along with him and helps" with his visit to Ukraine.

“However, it is now quite clear that this will not happen.

If American diplomats leave Ukrainian territory, then it is, of course, naive to expect the arrival of the US President, who is a specially protected figure," the expert noted.

According to Mezhuev, the wording about “containment” of Russia in the White House statement following Biden’s talks with Zelensky sounds strange, given that the United States is urgently evacuating many of its representatives in Ukraine.

“Even if you think in the logic of Washington, it turns out that they have some strange form of “deterring” Russia from “aggression” on Ukraine, which is accompanied by a loud flight.

In fact, Washington, which positions itself as the defender of Ukraine from Russia, is throwing Kiev into the mouth of a lion, which, however, of course, is not going to attack anyone.

The West wants to put Lev in a sanctions cage, but the United States is not interested in the fate of Ukraine, ”the analyst said.

The fact that the United States is actually acting purely in its own geopolitical interests, not thinking about the Ukrainian side, is evidenced by their “do everything by Kiev’s hands” approach, Mezhuev believes.

“Washington is pushing the Ukrainian authorities in every possible way to resolve the Donbass issue by force in order to provoke Russia into any actions that will be presented as an “invasion” of Ukraine, after which the West will impose new sanctions against the Russian Federation in order to slow down its development,” the expert believes.

At the same time, Mezhuev called a comical situation in which Kiev is trying to reduce the intensity of tension in Ukrainian society with its statements, while Biden and his entourage continue to talk about "further aggression from Russia against Ukraine."

“Kyiv says it is monitoring the situation and sees no signs that the Russian Federation wants to “attack” Ukraine soon.

However, Washington, referring to intelligence, unsubstantiated continues to pedal the topic of "invasion", which, according to the White House, could allegedly happen "at any moment," the expert said.

In turn, Sergey Margulis, lecturer at the Department of International Politics and Foreign Regional Studies at the Institute of Social Sciences of the RANEPA, drew attention to the contradictory nature of Zelensky’s statements, who, in a telephone conversation with Biden, on the one hand, reports that Kiev is ready “for any development of events,” and on the other hand, speaks of the importance of providing "effective security guarantees" to Ukraine.

“Kyiv at first broadcasts the idea that the Ukrainian side is allegedly a shield of Europe and is ready to repel any aggression, but then it declares that Ukraine needs more military assistance for this.

Speaking of “effective security guarantees,” Zelensky means NATO membership, although Kiev does not seriously count on this, as well as additional military assistance, ”the expert said in an interview with RT.

Margulis also believes that Zelensky is "trying to sit on two chairs."

“On the one hand, he wants to receive bonuses from the US and the West in the form of arms supplies, and therefore does not exclude the notorious “invasion” of Russia.

But at the same time, Kiev is already clearly aware that all this hysteria that Washington has inflated has a negative impact on the Ukrainian economy, including the outflow of investments, the departure of foreign citizens, the situation with air traffic, ”said the analyst.

As Margulis noted, Zelensky’s words that Kiev stands “exclusively for a peaceful settlement of the conflict” should not be taken seriously.

“Ukraine has been offered a specific plan for overcoming this crisis — the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

But Ukrainian politicians are not going to fulfill this plan.

There is no peaceful alternative to the Minsk agreements.

Therefore, if Kiev wants a peaceful resolution of the conflict, why then does it not comply with the Minsk agreements?

Unfortunately, the likelihood that Ukraine will begin to resolve the issue by military means is too high, ”the expert concluded.
