In the government's spring amendment budget, SEK 1 billion is set aside to support land, forest and water use.

SEK 700 million will go to tax refunds for diesel.

Jenny Karlsson, chairman of LRF Norrbotten, says that LRF has calculated how much the cost increase has been for the members.

She states the figure of SEK 5.6 billion at the turn of the year in increased costs.

Despite that, she is happy for SEK 700 million.

- It has never been expected that we would get a complete cost coverage, says Jenny Karlsson.

Enters into force this summer

The support package will provide compensation in the short term and enter into force on the first of July.

- The situation is tough for many farmers now, many are worried and do not get their calculations together.

This risks having consequences for Swedish food production, therefore the support package is an important measure, says Minister of Rural Affairs Anna-Caren Sätherberg (S).

Extra support for some

SEK 300 million will go specifically to the pig and poultry sectors and to the greenhouse companies.

The remaining SEK 700 million is proposed to go to a tax reduction for diesel in agriculture, forestry and aquaculture operations.

There is already a tax reduction for this, but it is temporarily increased by two kronor per liter - and ends up for a period of four kronor per liter.

Many smaller companies are covered

The government estimates that approximately 26,000 companies in the agricultural, forestry and aquaculture industries are covered by the reduction, most of which are smaller companies.
