Accommodation according to LSS is either a group accommodation where there is always staff available or service housing where you live in your own apartment, but with some common areas.

In the municipality of Jönköping, the increase in the number of people granted housing according to LSS has been large, from 298 people in 2011 to 519 people in 2021.

- The need for housing according to LSS has increased more than the population has increased in the municipality, says Anna Bunninger who is function manager in Jönköping municipality.

The legal situation has changed

Explanations according to her are that people who previously had contributions according to the Social Services Act instead received contributions according to LSS, which gives greater rights.

And that the legal situation for personal assistance has changed in recent years and meant that those who previously had it are instead referred to LSS housing.

- We follow the laws and practices that exist nationally.

There are many who think that it is a difficult adjustment and a time of great concern, but once you have ended up in a home, our experience is that it is often very good.

Other municipalities in the county that have an increase in the number of people granted housing according to LSS are Mullsjö, Habo, Nässjö, Sävsjö, Tranås and Värnamo.

Five of the county's municipalities have a queue where people are waiting to get housing.

Vaggeryd and Aneby municipalities have not responded.
