Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung visited the tombs of former presidents Syngman Rhee and Park Chung-hee today (14th) and said, "We must honor the merits and rebuke them, but it is clear that we remember them as part of history."

Candidate Lee, after visiting the tomb of a former president at the Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul this morning, said, "Good and bad are part of history."

Candidate Lee Jae-myung opened the door by saying, "Five years ago, during the primary, I said, 'In my conscience, it is difficult to worship a president who broke the bridge between the dictator and the Han River and abandoned the people who fled."

He continued, "However, over the past five years, I have been thinking a lot more, and my social roles and responsibilities have changed and grown a lot," he explained, explaining the reason for visiting former presidents Syngman Rhee and Park Chung-hee.

He emphasized, "If you want to be a representative of the people, you have to think about which one is more desirable from the point of view of the people and the country rather than the preference of a specific individual."

Regarding presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo of the People's Party yesterday, who proposed unification to presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who was the power of the people, Lee said, "Politics puts the people at the center and always thinks about the people and the future of the country in everything. I have nothing to tell you,” he said sparingly.

He then said, "I will mobilize to the bottom of my soul and do my best to die," he said about his resolve ahead of the official election campaign starting tomorrow.
