An imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Interviewed by France 24, Monday February 14, the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, considered that the possibility of a rapid Russian military operation was an eventuality.

"An aggression this week is quite possible when we see what is happening around Ukraine with the deployment of Russian forces," he said. 

The American Secretary of State explained that he favored dialogue with Moscow, believing that the ball was in the Russian court: “President Biden is very committed to diplomacy, he spoke today with President Zelensky and he had spoken before with President Putin.

We accept any hypothesis to advance diplomacy, but in the first instance it depends above all on Russia.

Are they going to pursue a withdrawal of the forces surrounding Ukraine to give the opportunity for diplomacy to solve the problems, or on the contrary to increase their forces? 

Russia deemed possible on Monday a diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Western crisis around Ukraine and announced the end of certain military maneuvers, when the fear of an imminent invasion reached its peak.

The Pentagon affirmed, for its part, that Moscow had reinforced, during the weekend, its military force on the borders of Ukraine.
