On April 3, 2018, around 10:20 p.m., Thai boxer Amadou Ba was hit by six bullets and beaten with a baseball bat after giving boxing training and driving a student home.

The man will die a few hours later in the hospital.

This Monday begins the trial, at the Assize Court of Val-de-Marne, of four men including the three ex-brothers-in-law of the victim for the assassination of Amadou Ba.

The description of an ambush

The autopsy had revealed that the death was caused by a “multiple ballistic trauma causing internal bleeding” and had noted the presence of “multiple lesions in the head”.

An empty magazine had been discovered at the victim's feet.

According to a witness at the crime scene, four men got out of a car and forcibly extracted Amadou Ba from his vehicle after blocking it by crossing the road.

The boxer was a figure of the department

During the investigation, Yazid K., one of the three brothers, unknown to justice, admitted having fired the shots.

"I shot in the window, I shot, I don't know, I didn't want it to come to that," he told investigators, assuring that the three other defendants were not aware that he was armed.

His brother, Nacer K., for his part claimed to have hit the victim with a bat.

This assassination, which at the time aroused a lot of emotion in Créteil, took place against the backdrop of a family conflict with the ex-wife of Amadou Ba, with whom he was married in 2004, separated in 2015 and was still going through a divorce in 2018. Together they had three children.

The instruction showed that the separation was “conflictual” and the relations between the ex-companions had deteriorated a few months before the facts.

A dispute on the background of a marital affair

Among the reasons for the conflict, the fact that Amadou Ba, who was then with a new partner, no longer wanted custody of the children, and on the other hand the sale of their old house, recently rented by a relative of the victim's ex-wife.

In addition, a few days before the facts, Amadou Ba had had a "violent altercation" with his ex-brother-in-law Djamel K. in a restaurant.

Investigations have established that the victim "feared for his safety" following this fight.
