The US Department has announced a competition for organizations and individuals wishing to take part in the initiative "in the field of public diplomacy."

The purpose of the new project is to "advance the foreign policy goals and objectives of the United States in Syria."

As a priority within the framework of the initiative, the State Department identified several areas of work for future contractors.

Thus, these included increasing the level of youth involvement in the affairs of their communities, strengthening peace, education, countering the ideology of organizations recognized as terrorist, as well as promoting the socio-economic development of the country.

Another important area, according to the American side, is the interaction of program participants with representatives of local media.

“Strengthening the media sector and (or) developing journalistic skills to build the professional capacity of individuals working in this field, which will allow them to fight disinformation,” the grant description specifies.

The State Department is ready to allocate $317,000 for the implementation of the project (if funds are available). At the same time, it is emphasized that the minimum amount of one grant is $20,000, and the maximum should not exceed $50,000.

US or foreign non-profit and non-governmental organizations, individuals, among others, can apply for funding.

In the summer of 2021, it was reported about the intentions of the State Department to allocate up to $18 million for the development of education in the regions of the SAR, "not controlled by the Syrian regime" and liberated from IS *.

* "Islamic State" (ISIS, ISIL) - the organization was recognized as a terrorist organization by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of December 29, 2014.
