Franck Riester returned to the reasons for his rallying to Emmanuel Macron, in the context of the presidential campaign.

"The LRs have been at a strategic impasse for years," said Franck Riester.

"They're in the race to the far right, are belly dancing all the time to the far right. I think it's a strategic mistake, deviating from the DNA of the right Republican, they got lost."

The Minister of Foreign Trade deplores a "lack of consistency".

"It's difficult, when a party is lost, to be the candidate of that party, especially when Valérie Pécresse left the party a few years ago, precisely, because of this drift of the Republicans."

Franck Riester adds: "This lack of coherence is visible and I think that our compatriots need to feel at some point sincerity, coherence, authenticity and to feel a strong, unifying project, beyond political divisions. And that's what I believe Emmanuel Macron embodies today."
