“Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to allocate more than 400 million rubles for the sequencing (genetic analysis) of a new strain,” the government website said in a statement.
Funding is allocated for the purchase of equipment, enzymes and consumables for the study of RNA chains in the virus genome.
It is expected that the allocated funds will make it possible to study at least 57.2 thousand samples.
Earlier, the Russian Government approved the allocation of an additional 600 million rubles to pay medical workers who remotely provide advice to citizens with COVID-19 coronavirus infection.
