It's not just the Alps that are being taken by storm.

In the Vosges, resorts are also unusually busy, like Gérardmer.

Europe 1 was able to see the crowds in front of the ski schools, which were sold out at the start of the holidays.

REPORTING

This Saturday begins the holidays for children in zone A, ie Bordeaux, Lyon, Grenoble, Poitiers, Dijon, Besançon, Limoges and Clermont-Ferrant.

Bison Futé sees red on the roads in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and especially around ski resorts.

But it is not only in the Alps that the resorts are taken by storm.

In the Vosges too, holidaymakers are very numerous.

At the foot of the slopes, in front of the Gérardmer ski school chalet, a small queue has formed.

But the response from the monitors is always the same.

"There in the morning, I have cross-country skiing instructors, but in alpine skiing, I already have more room," said one of the instructors.

In this school, 100% of the lessons are full, as Cédric has just noticed, coming from Aube for the day with his wife and 3 children: "We said to ourselves, a ski resort like the Vosges , it's quite family, and there are chances that we can manage to do something".

The station is preparing for a record year

David, on the other hand, had prepared his stay well, before leaving Brittany: "We had registered the girls, a month and a half or two months ago. We had anticipated the thing well. It was well done, I think".

Indeed: the February holidays represent 70% of the Gérardmer ski school's turnover.

And this year, we should reach records, rejoices Thierry Bastien, the director of the ski school.

“We are coming out of two somewhat special years: a year 2019-2020 where there was little snow and where it was complicated, and then a year 2020-2021 where there was the Covid. So there we feel a big need to ski again."

A need that is also measured in accommodation, almost all of which are full.
