Ukraine crisis is an immediate crisis, with the US and Russia announcing the withdrawal of some of their diplomats.

In order to find a solution, the leaders of the United States and Russia went to a phone discussion again after about a month.

President Biden has made it clear that he will react decisively if Russia invades Ukraine.

He warned that Russia would suffer widespread suffering and that Russia's status would decline, and pressured Putin, saying he was equally prepared for scenarios other than diplomatic involvement.

However, a US official explained that there was no fundamental change to ease tensions during the 62-minute call.

A U.S. official said, however, that related teams from both sides will continue to keep in touch regarding Ukraine.

Russia, which has demanded a pledge to ban Ukraine from joining NATO, and the United States, which has said it is unacceptable, seem to be running parallel this time as well.

The Russian side reacted sharply to the foreign minister's phone call, saying that the US was instigating rumors of an invasion of Ukraine.

In the midst of this, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the US Virginia-class submarine intruded into the territorial waters near Urup Island in the Kuril Islands and took an appropriate response, calling in a military officer from the US embassy in Moscow to protest.
