"If he gives the green light... to Russia's 'invasion' of Ukraine, then China will eventually face the consequences and a change in the attitude of the international community," Sullivan said.

His words are quoted by TASS.

He stressed that the attitude of European partners will change in particular.

“China will not be able to compensate for the economic losses that Russia will suffer from sanctions in the event of an invasion,” Sullivan concluded.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that the situation around Ukraine had reached the point of absurdity.

Rudenko noted that Moscow has repeatedly and at various levels stated that it does not plan to invade or attack Ukraine.

The Kremlin emphasized that Russia was not going to attack anyone.
