The UAE has highlighted efforts to help the international community recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hessa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, delivered the state's statement during the meeting of the Social Development Committee in its sixtieth session, where she shed light on the continuous efforts of the United Arab Emirates, in helping countries around the world to recover from the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, as it included the humanitarian aid provided by the UAE during the pandemic. More than 2,000 tons of medical supplies have been routed on nearly 200 flights, to 135 countries around the world.

Hessa Buhumaid indicated in the statement that "the global pandemic continues to cast a shadow over our societies, and on the lives and livelihoods of many around the world, however, the UAE and its government were able to be a leader in dealing with the pandemic and its repercussions at the international level."

She added: "The UAE is looking forward to informing the international community of its experience and best practices, to ensure that our recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic is a comprehensive and sustainable process, and that while we will focus on the recovery of our international community from the effects of this pandemic, we can also leave societies prepared and more In preparation for our future generations.

The UAE provided 196 flights of medical aid, and field hospitals and mobile clinics were established during the pandemic in Sudan, Guinea, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkmenistan.

Aid was sent to 117 countries from the warehouses of international organizations located in the International City for Humanitarian Services in Dubai, in addition to a donation of $10 million as in-kind aid from the UAE to the World Health Organization.

The Minister of Community Development noted the response of the UAE government to the pandemic at the national level, which has made fundamental changes, with the aim of creating a government that is more flexible and in line with changes, and faster in decision-making.

The country also renewed its support for the sustainable development goals, highlighting the high-quality educational services it provides, creating job opportunities within its knowledge-based economy, and attracting innovation and talent.
