- Without speaking out in this case, I can state that when young men are shot dead, it is also other young men who are known to the police who are the perpetrators, says Olof Bråve, local police area manager in Kalmar.

Does the investigation make it easier for the victim to be known by you?

- Both also.

If there is anyone in the circle of acquaintances, they are not inclined to talk to the police.

It can be difficult.

On the other hand, you know who to look for approximately, says Olof Bråve.

Connection to criminal network

The murdered man was convicted in 2020 of drug offenses.

According to the verdict, he must have packed and sold drugs in an apartment together with a 20-year-old man.

The same 20-year-old was sentenced on Wednesday for preparation for a serious drug crime in another high-profile case in Kalmar.

During the trial, the 20-year-old has been described as part of a criminal network which is referred to by the police as the "Norrliden gang", something they themselves have denied.

Sources close to the now shot 22-year-old also confirm to SVT that he was involved in drug sales.

Made large drug seizures

The local police area chief does not want to confirm the information, but says that the police have made major raids of drugs lately, which is happening in the criminal world.

- We have made large seizures of both cocaine and cannabis.

It is so, in general, that when someone gets rid of volumes like this, someone else owes some money, says Olof Bråve.

Have the police felt that this would happen?

- No, we have not had any such signals.
