Washington and Arab countries condemned the attack launched by the Houthis on Abha airport in Saudi Arabia, which left injuries, and demanded that the attackers be held accountable in accordance with international law.
A US State Department statement said that the Houthis "followed a dangerous pattern of obstructive and increasingly aggressive measures against Yemenis, Yemen's neighbors, and the international community."
The statement also noted that the repeated attacks in the past weeks have damaged civilians and civilian infrastructure.
He added that the parties to the war in Yemen should sit down to the negotiating table to work together and support the new peace process led by the United Nations.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that the United States strongly condemns what he called "the terrorist attack on Abha in Saudi Arabia, which wounded innocent civilians."
Sullivan made it clear that the Houthis bore responsibility for the attack, and that Washington would work with Saudi Arabia and international partners to hold them accountable.
In the same context, Pakistan and Arab countries condemned the Houthis' targeting of Abha airport, and considered it a "blatant challenge to the international community and a disregard for international laws."
Air Navigation Threat
Yesterday, Thursday, the Saudi-led Arab coalition announced that the number of wounded as a result of the interception and destruction of a drone in the vicinity of Abha International Airport had risen to 12 people of several nationalities, according to a brief statement published by the Saudi Press Agency on its Twitter account.
Yesterday, Thursday, Egypt expressed its "deep condemnation and disapproval of the Houthi militia's continued terrorist attacks against Saudi Arabia, the latest of which was targeting Abha International Airport with a drone."
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry reiterated its "total rejection of these terrorist acts, which represent an explicit threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom, and a flagrant violation of the rules of international law, as well as undermining the freedom of air navigation and the safety of civilians."
Cairo affirmed its full solidarity with the Kingdom in the measures it takes to preserve its security and stability, and to ensure the safety of its citizens and residents on its lands.
The Gulf Cooperation Council also strongly condemned "the terrorist attack carried out by the Houthi militia on Abha International Airport, and endangering civilians."
"The attack launched by the Houthi militia is a cowardly terrorist attack, and a war crime that endangers the lives of civilians, travelers and workers," he said in a statement by its Secretary-General, Nayef Al-Hajraf.
The Gulf Cooperation Council stressed the "need to hold terrorists accountable in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, as civilian airports are protected areas under international law."
