Overseas Network, February 11. On the evening of the 9th local time, a South Korean diplomat was attacked on the streets of Manhattan, New York, USA, causing a fractured nasal bone and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

The identity of the man who hit the man is unknown, and he fled on the spot after committing the crime.

South Korea's foreign ministry said it had urged local police to thoroughly investigate the case.

  According to Yonhap News Agency, the victim is an official of the Permanent Mission of South Korea to the United Nations and is in his 50s.

At the time of the incident, a strange man approached him and punched him in the face without saying a word. During the attack, the victim also showed his diplomat certificate.

  After the incident, the South Korean side contacted the U.S. Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the U.S. State Department, and New York law enforcement agencies to request assistance and to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

U.S. police have yet to characterize the case as a hate crime and will investigate the motive after arresting the suspect.
