Liberation Party, made up of national merit and descendants, has been operating a cafe at the National Assembly since May 2020.

The purpose of this operation is to provide scholarships to the descendants of people of merit.

However, recently, allegations of embezzlement emerged that Kim Won-woong, chairman of the Liberation Party, used tens of millions of won for personal purposes.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs immediately launched an audit and it turned out to be in part true.

The Liberation Society of Korea raised about 60 million won in slush funds by placing false orders or inflating costs while operating a cafe.

It was also discovered that some of the slush funds were deposited into the bankbook of Chairman Kim Won-woong and turned into cash.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said that it also confirmed that the slush funds were used for personal purposes, such as purchasing Kim's suit.

During an investigation by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, it is known that Kim Won-woong, chairman of the Liberation Movement, explained that he believed the informant and entrusted him with the management of the funds, but it seems that he was overly loyal.

However, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs stated that there was no fact that the Liberation Association was using the state subsidy.

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to request the police to investigate the results of the audit and begin the process of revoking the approval for the profit-making business.
