It was in Trollhättan that the Olympic star took his first skates and on Friday many had sat down in Slättbergshallen to watch the race on a big screen.

A hall where Nils van der Poel put in countless hours of training.

When Nils crossed the finish line, there was still a heat left in the competition, but in practice the Olympic gold was ready and the gold jubilation at the skating club in Trollhättan did not wait.

- For 106 years, Trollhättan has been waiting for this gold medal and we will get two in five days, says Benno Johansson, vice chairman of SK Trollhättan.
