The corona infection process in Hesse remains extremely active.

However, the Hessian health authorities reported almost 400 fewer cases to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) overnight than a week ago.

The 19,974 new positive PCR tests recorded on Friday are nevertheless a very high number, especially since 18,915 were reported on Thursday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic almost two years ago, almost 891,500 people in Hesse have officially been infected with a variant of the corona virus.

According to official figures, 8955 died of or with Covid-19.

Eleven dead were added overnight.

The seven-day incidence is a good 1668 after 1621 a week ago.

This value reflects the new cases recorded within seven days among 100,000 inhabitants.

The incidence has dropped by a few cases compared to Thursday.

However, the hospitalization rate, which is more important for corona policy, continues to rise.

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, it is now 7.13 after 6.91 a week ago and 6.83 on Thursday.

The 7.13 is the highest value reported so far.

52 percent of the Hessians boosted

An increased seven-day incidence results in more corona patients in clinics with a delay of up to two weeks.

This is also the case at the moment.

A few days ago, Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) described the situation in the clinics as "manageable".

If the hospitalization incidence rises above 9 or if 400 intensive care beds are occupied, the state government wants to discuss further steps.

As the Ministry of Social Affairs further reports, there are currently 236 corona patients in Hessian intensive care units, including 13 suspected cases.

Seven days ago there were a total of 216 patients.

Since last Friday, the number of corona patients in normal wards has risen from 1178 to 1327, the current value includes 156 suspected cases.

55.8 percent of patients in intensive care units are not or not fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, 40.6 percent are considered fully vaccinated.

Among them are a number of patients whose vaccination protection is not strong enough because of other serious illnesses.

Their number tends to increase, since there are more and more fully vaccinated people in Hesse, some of the vaccination protection is decreasing and by no means everyone is boosted.

A good 52 percent of all are boosted, and a good 73 percent are fully vaccinated.

For people over the age of twelve, the vaccination rate is almost 82 percent.
