The city of Frankfurt expects significant income from the planned games of the National Football League (NFL) in the coming years.

This was confirmed by Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann and Sports Director Mike Josef at an NFL press conference in Los Angeles on Friday, which the two city representatives attended via video link.

Experience from London, where the best football league in the world has been hosting regular season games for several years, has shown that fans there spend up to 30 million euros in the course of these games.

"Frankfurt will therefore benefit from the NFL games to a very considerable extent," said Josef, referring to the expected sales in the hotel, catering and retail sectors.

However, there is still no clarity as to when the first encounter between two NFL teams will take place in the Eintracht Frankfurt Bundesliga stadium.

Contrary to the statements made by Mayor Feldmann, who assumes an alternating rhythm - the first venue this year will be Munich - those responsible for the NFL in Los Angeles once again made it clear that the exact sequence has not yet been determined.

Brett Gosper, the league's Europe and UK CEO, cited the many variables that make planning reliable, including stadium logistics and occupancy schedules, as the reason for the discrepancy.

Meanwhile, the rush of spectators for the NFL game in Munich is enormous: 215,000 fans applied for tickets within two days, according to Gosper.
