Hank owes him his life.

Michael Gregorek, a policeman from Douglas County in Colorado (United States), became a hero after saving a dog trapped in a burning car, reports Le Parisien.

The facts occurred on January 22.

Alerted that a vehicle had caught fire, the police officer intervened immediately.

Upon arriving there, the owner of the car explained to him that his dog was still inside.

He receives honors

"I immediately pulled out my telescopic baton and broke several windows, from which thick black smoke was coming out," Michael Gregorek told local media.

In the footage, poor Hank's head is seen sticking out of a window with difficulty.

But his master can't pull him out of the vehicle.

"I immediately took over," says the policeman.

“Despite the danger of smoke and fire, nothing else really mattered at the time other than getting Hank out of the car.

The animal was finally able to get out safe and sound from the burning vehicle.

The officer was congratulated and rewarded for his act of bravery.

A video in his honor was posted on the local sheriff's Facebook page.
