The decision on ordering is valid for three months, during which time the management of the delivery will work to staff the departments.

- One of the proposals concerns, for example, the working methods so that each department will have a separate BB department that those who work at the birth can also work at.

From this autumn, they also want to offer nurses to have their further education as a midwife paid for, and they also want to try to attract back former employees.

- We will also already now offer shared services that allow you to work both at the midwife clinic and at the delivery.

We have perceived that people are interested in this.

Will this solve the 40 vacancies?

- We know that this is a wish.

We think there will be quite a lot of interest in this and we want to meet that.

The union: "Does not solve the crisis"

But the Healthcare Association does not believe that this will solve the shortage of midwives.

- Maybe it attracts a few, but certainly not 40, says Malin Bergander who is a shop steward and midwife.

Instead, the Healthcare Association and many midwives want to see a different solution.

- We have long wanted to introduce an opportunity for a midwife to follow a woman through pregnancy to childbirth, so-called caseload midwifery.

But the employer does not want to try, I do not understand why, says Malin Bergander.

Corinne Pedroletti states that an analysis is currently underway within the region and that it is expected to be ready by the summer.

- Probably no new decisions will be made before that analysis is complete.
