It was on 10 December 2021 that the county administrative board, after a report, inspected a campsite in Norrbotten.

In the area it had recently been 25-30 degrees below zero.

In transport cages on a flatbed, 15 dogs had stayed for several days in the severe cold.

- The dogs were in need of veterinary care and one was dead, says Anna Modig, unit manager at the animal welfare and veterinary unit at the County Administrative Board of Norrbotten.

Immediate care

According to the county administrative board, the majority of the dogs were severely under normal breath, had wounds and wet and damp fur contaminated with urine and feces.

- We decided to make immediate care, says Anna Modig.

The owner of the dogs, a male foreign national, was staying in a cabin on the campsite.

In the cottage there were four more dogs, an adult male dog and a bitch with two puppies.

The bitch with puppies was judged to have the worst hole status of all dogs - and the puppies were illegally brought to Sweden.

Have not appealed the decision

The owner stated that he came to Norrbotten with the dogs to work with a draft dog holder.

On the spot, he had been refused to stay at the draft dog facility, which meant that he ended up at the campsite.

The deceased dog had been discovered by the owner between occasions he fed and rested the dogs in 6 square meters of resting yards he set up next to the car body.

Want to start selling as soon as possible

The owner has not appealed the county administrative board's decision.

- We intend to start selling these dogs as soon as possible, says Anna Modig.
