“The Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus opened a criminal case against the mayor of the city of Dnipro, Boris Filatov, who was charged with inciting ethnic hatred,” the department said in a Telegram message.

According to the prosecutor's office, Filatov humiliated the national honor and dignity of Belarusians.

It is noted that this act harms the friendly relations of peoples.

Earlier, the Embassy of Belarus in Kiev reported that Minsk was counting on an official apology and investigation into the desecration of the state symbol in the Dnieper.

On February 9, the mayor of Dnipro, Boris Filatov, announced that the flag of the Belarusian community near the city hall was changed from red-green with an ornament to the opposition white-red-white due to disagreement with the statements of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
