According to the Swedish Medical Association, the medical staff has been exploited to the breaking point during the pandemic.

The Region will now try to help staff get more rest and recovery, through continued restrictiveness in terms of training and business travel that is not critical to operations.

- The little air we can get from continued restrictiveness should go to rest and leave if possible, says Ninnie Borendal Wodlin, care director for the Östergötland Region.

Several methods

The National Board of Health and Welfare has mapped that 13,000 licensed nurses work in other areas.

The goal now is to attract staff back to healthcare and this will be done via several different methods.

- We have many different ways of working with it.

It can be schedule models, working hours, career paths, says Ninnie Borendal Wodlin.
