The Russian president also drew attention to the fact that when they met with Tokayev before the New Year, nothing foreshadowed the development of such events in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, the Kremlin said that the presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan would discuss bilateral relations and the situation in nearby regions.
