On Europe Matin Thursday, the ambassador to the One Ocean Summit, Maud Fontenoy, returned to the importance of protecting the oceans when this summit opened on Wednesday in Brest.

She said she was optimistic about its outcome and felt that efforts must come from France, which has turned its back at times on the seabed.

The international One Ocean Summit opened on Wednesday in Brest and brings together representatives of countries, researchers and NGOs to find solutions on the protection of the oceans.

Guest on Europe Matin Thursday, the ambassador of this summit and navigator Maud Fontenoy, assured to be optimistic and estimated that France has its role to play. 

"We are the second largest maritime power in the world, we are present on all the oceans of the globe, we have a national navy which could ensure supplies and the fact that the oceans are not plundered. And yet we have turned our backs a little, we are we have invested a lot more in the space”, she regretted.
