Detention in Yekaterinburg

On February 8, in Yekaterinburg, police officers detained a suspect in sending a series of false messages of a criminal nature.

It turned out to be a 14-year-old student of one of the gymnasiums of the Leninsky district of the city.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region, the teenager sent e-mail messages about an alleged threat to schools, shopping centers and other social infrastructure facilities.

“He has already confessed, explaining that he committed his illegal actions for the sake of hype, and also in order to attract additional subscribers.

The young man also admitted that he carried out information attacks, including on order, receiving 1 thousand rubles for an electronic wallet for this, ”explained Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the head office of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the press service of the regional FSB department, since the summer of 2021, the young man, who was a member of one of the Internet communities, had an experienced “curator” from abroad who taught him how to send messages about supposedly planted bombs using anonymizers.

It is noted that after each completed mailing, the young man reported to the curator, sending him links to the media.

“In this way, he declared that the goal of his attack had been achieved.

Obtaining approval from his foreign curator was the main motive that pushed the teenager to commit subsequent episodes of the crime.

At the same time, during interrogation by the security forces, he confirmed that he was aware of the illegality of his actions, ”TASS quoted the message as saying.
