Between 800 and 1,000 people pushed out of their homes for a morning.

On Wednesday February 23, this is what awaits the inhabitants of Grussenheim, in the Haut-Rhin.

An operation to defuse a 250 kg bomb dating from the Second World War will be carried out in the town, announced the prefecture of the department.

Since then, a census has begun to find out whether or not residents should be welcomed.

“We must evacuate within a perimeter of 800 meters […] We hope that this defusing will be the last”, explained the mayor Martin Klipfel to France Bleu Alsace.

In 2005, an operation of the same type had already taken place on site for the same type of machine.

“It is probably two bombs dropped at the same time, by an Allied plane which was returning from a bombardment in Germany”, according to the elected official.
