Marjorie Taylor Greene, an elected Republican accustomed to controversy in the United States, has been the subject of many taunts since Wednesday.

The pro-Trump MP indeed confused the words “gazpacho” and “Gestapo” during an interview.

In a diatribe this Tuesday evening on the very conservative channel

One America News

, the elected representative of Georgia wanted to denounce the so-called police method of the Democratic leader of Congress, Nancy Pelosi.

She likened the prison where the January 2021 Capitol attackers are being held to a "gulag" and denounced "Nancy Pelosi's gazpacho police, who spy on members of Congress."

Absurd, hard to imagine a few years ago: an elected American, Marjorie Taylor Greene, a great follower of conspiracy theories, spoke of “gazpacho” instead of “Gestapo” to denounce the “police” methods of Nancy Pelosi.

Hungarian soup and conspiratorial remarks

This confusion between the political police of the Third Reich and the famous Spanish soup served frozen has delighted many Internet users and personalities.

The Spanish chef José Andrés, known for having popularized tapas in the United States, for example, offered the MP to come and taste a glass of gazpacho in one of his restaurants in Washington.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is familiar with conspiracy theories and has already been sanctioned (by Congress and by Twitter) for controversial remarks.

She notably compared the vaccine passport against Covid-19 to the yellow star imposed on Jews.

No soup for those who illegally spy on Members of Congress, but they will be thrown in the goulash.#Gazpacho #Gestapo

This time, the chosen one reacted with humor and self-mockery.

“No soup for those who illegally spy on members of Congress,” tweeted Marjorie Taylor Greene.

“But they will be thrown into the goulash.

“Thus completing his slip with a play on words between “gulag” and “goulash”, a Hungarian soup widespread in Central Europe.
