The US special envoy to Yemen, Timothy Linderking, said that the Houthi attacks, which have increased, are the main obstacle to peace efforts, while the coalition aircraft continued its raids on Houthi targets in Sanaa.
In a speech during a panel discussion by the United States Institute of Peace, Lenderking renewed his call on all parties to de-escalate and respect international laws to protect civilians, including thousands of Americans in the Gulf states.
Lenderking said the safety of Americans in the Gulf states is the top US national security priority.
The US envoy indicated that there is an international consensus on the need for a ceasefire and a peaceful solution, stressing that there is no military solution to the conflict.
coalition raids
On the ground, media sources close to the Houthis said that the coalition warplanes launched a raid on the Al-Hafa area in the Al-Sabeen district in the capital, Sanaa, and another raid on the Al-Sabaha area in the Bani Matar district of the capital.
The sources added that coalition warplanes targeted the communications network in Jabal Bayh in the Manakhah district in Sana'a as well.
Yemeni military sources said that violent confrontations continued for the fifth consecutive day between the Yemeni army and the Houthis in the neighborhoods of the city of "Haradh" in Hajjah Governorate, northwest of Yemen, and in areas around the city.
The sources added that the Houthis launched an attack at dawn yesterday, east of the city of Haradh, in an attempt to break the cordon imposed on them by the Yemeni army, stressing that the army was able to repel it.
For its part, the Yemeni army confirmed that more than twenty Houthis were killed or wounded in two raids by the coalition that targeted two military vehicles inside the city of Haradh.
There was no comment from the Houthis.
