The Democratic Party is debating how to directly apologize to Kim Hye-kyung, the spouse of presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, over the 'excessive protocol' controversy.

Woo Sang-ho, head of the Democratic Party's election campaign, said at a meeting with reporters at the Democratic Party's office on the 9th, "We are setting the direction to (apology) and adjusting the content, method, and timing."

Former CEO Lee Nak-yeon, who previously joined as the general election chairman, said, "I think it is necessary to admit honestly and humbly apologize."

Director Woo said, "Isn't it that Lee Nak-yeon, chairman of the general election campaign, actually recommended an apology? I think it should be taken seriously and put into practice."

However, Director Woo said, "There are some things to discuss with the candidate's wife regarding the format, content, and timing," he said.

It is interpreted that the Democratic Party's election committee decided to focus on the policy and the candidate's competitiveness for the remainder of the election period after the candidates and their spouses directly concluded the suspicions raised recently.
