“I have decided to support Emmanuel Macron”, launches Éric Woerth at the start of his interview in
Le Parisien
published this Wednesday.
An announcement that sounds like a betrayal coming from the head of the federation Les Républicains de l'Oise.
But the one who was the former minister under Nicolas Sarkozy and currently chairman of the Finance Commission of the National Assembly claims to have carefully considered his choice.
If he does not support the candidate LR Valérie Pécresse it is because according to him, Emmanuel Macron "is best able to defend the interests of France and the French".
Éric Woerth highlights in particular his experience of five years as president and his ability to manage “the most serious crises”.
“I have respect and friendship for Valérie Pécresse”, assures Éric Woerth in his interview.
He assures that his decision is not personal, but that he “does not adhere to the speech of LR, which describes a France which is not quite mine, a nostalgic France, curled up on itself ".
He then depicts an LR campaign "obsessed with radical Islamism".
