The LR candidate, Valérie Pécresse, and that of the PS, Anne Hidalgo, obtained enough sponsorships to present themselves for the presidential election of April 2022, joining Emmanuel Macron who had already crossed the milestone of the 500 signatures required, according to the list, published Tuesday, February 8, by the Constitutional Council.

The Constitutional Council validated 3,017 new sponsorships on Tuesday, bringing the total to 5,086 – figures which have yet to receive final validation, because sponsorships must come from at least 30 different departments.

Valérie Pécresse is now in the lead, with 939 sponsorships, against 926 for the outgoing president who has not yet officially announced his candidacy.

In third position, Anne Hidalgo already has 652 signatures and is the only left-wing candidate to have crossed the 500 signature mark, ahead of Lutte Ouvrière candidate Nathalie Arthaud (368), Communist Fabien Roussel (326), ecologist Yannick Jadot (268), the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon (224), Philippe Poutou (127), Anasse Kazib (84) and Christiane Taubira (36).

Jean Lassalle is getting closer to 500 signatures

On the far right, RN candidate Marine Le Pen is still far from the goal with 139 sponsorships, ten less than her rival Éric Zemmour (149).

Among the other declared candidates, the deputy Jean Lassale (316) is approaching 500 signatures, ahead of the boss of Debout la France Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (232) and François Asselineau (171).

The animalist candidate Hélène Thouy is still far away (48).

Nearly 42,000 elected officials, including 34,000 mayors, can grant their sponsorship.

Candidates have until March 4, 6 p.m. to collect signatures.

The Constitutional Council posts on its website twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the list updated in real time.
