The Korean government won the first washing machine dispute in four years with the United States.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that the World Trade Organization (WTO) has circulated a panel report that judged the Korean government in favor of the South Korean government with respect to the safeguard measures and safeguards implemented by the former Trump administration in 2018 to member countries.

Previously, the U.S. government has imposed tariffs on the quota of 1.2 million units per year and excess volume on finished washing machines since February 2018.

It is predicted that the US will appeal against the judgment result, and the impact of the judgment result is likely to be limited as domestic companies are already producing a significant amount in the US.
