“Based on the materials received from the prosecutor’s checks, criminal cases were initiated on the facts of embezzlement of funds by organizations involved in cleaning the city from snow and ice,” the material says.

It is noted that the police are conducting searches, as well as other investigative actions.

Earlier, the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov said that the city is reforming the system of cleaning streets from snow and ice.

In December, two criminal cases were opened in St. Petersburg after snow and ice fell from the roofs of houses onto people, the circumstances of two more such cases are being clarified as part of the inspections.
